Metrolink overnight parking trial extended

The trial which allowed Metrolink users to leave their cars overnight at selected car parks on the network on Fridays and Saturdays is to be extended to allow for a full evaluation report to be completed. Originally due to end on 5th March 2016 the trial will now continue until 30th July 2016.

Metrolink users who are travelling into the city centre or working on Fridays and Saturdays can leave their cars in selected car parks for free as long as they collect it by 12pm the following day. Previously no overnight parking was permitted, a policy which still exists for the rest of the week.

So far the trial has seen Brooklands, Navigation Road, Stretford and Bury being the most popular locations for overnight parking – all stops on the original network. In addition to these four stops the car parks at Crumpsall, Prestwich, Radcliffe, Whitefield, East Didsbury, Ladywell, Hollinwood, Oldham Mumps, Rochdale Railway Station, Derker and Shaw & Crompton are involved in the trial.

An online survey has also been launched to get feedback and this can be viewed at http://surveys.tfgm.com/snapwebhost/s.asp?k=145337078610.
