Christmas and New Year Services 2015-2016

Once again we bring you a round-up of the services being operated across all tram and light rail networks in the British Isles over the Christmas and New Year period. From Edinburgh in the north to Croydon in the south and from Dublin in the west to Nottingham in the east this is a complete guide to where and when you can enjoy trams over the festive period if being with the family gets just a little bit too much…

Blackpool Tramway

Thursday 24th December (Christmas Eve) – Saturday service with last tram from Starr Gate at 2015 and from Fleetwood Ferry at 2115

Friday 25th December (Christmas Day) – NO SERVICE

Saturday 26th December (Boxing Day) – NO SERVICE

Sunday 27th & Monday 28th December – Sunday service

Tuesday 29th & Wednesday 30th December – Saturday service

Thursday 31st December (New Year’s Eve) – Saturday service with last tram from Starr Gate at 2015 and from Fleetwood Ferry at 2115

Friday 1st January 2016 (New Year’s Day) – NO SERVICE

Docklands Light Railway

Thursday 24th December (Christmas Eve) – Saturday service with some changes. From 2200 fewer trains will run with last services at 2245

Friday 25th December (Christmas Day) – NO SERVICE

Saturday 26th December (Boxing Day) – Every 10 minutes between 0830 and 0030

Sunday 27th December – Sunday service

Monday 28th December – Saturday service

Tuesday 29th & Wednesday 30th December – Normal service

Thursday 31st December (New Year’s Eve) – Normal service until 0030. Then a special service will run every 15 minutes between 0030 and 1000 – free travel between 2345 and 0430

Friday 1st January 2016 (New Year’s Day) – Every 15 minutes until 1000, after which a normal Saturday service will run

Edinburgh Trams

Thursday 24th December (Christmas Eve) – Weekday service until earlier last departures at 2138 from York Place and Airport at 2100

Friday 25th December (Christmas Day) – NO SERVICE

Saturday 26th December (Boxing Day) – Saturday service

Sunday 27th December – Sunday service

Monday 28th & Tuesday 29th December – Weekday service

Wednesday 30th December – Weekday service. From 1800 trams will only run from Airport to West End Princes Street

Thursday 31st December (New Year’s Eve) – Saturday service between Airport and West End Princes Street only

Friday 1st January 2016 (New Year’s Day) – Saturday service. Until 1000 trams will only run between Airport and West End Princes Street

London Tramlink

Thursday 24th December (Christmas Eve) – After 1800 line 4 will not run and less trams will run on all other routes until last trams run at their normal time

Friday 25th December (Christmas Day) – NO SERVICE

Saturday 26th December (Boxing Day) & Sunday 27th December – Sunday service

Monday 28th December to Wednesday 30th December – Saturday service

Thursday 31st December (New Year’s Eve) – Saturday service. Trams will run an all night Saturday service will run every 30 minutes between Wimbledon and New Addington and Wimbledon and Beckenham Junction

Friday 1st January 2016 (New Year’s Day) – Sunday service

Luas

Thursday 24th December (Christmas Eve) – Last tram at 2000

Friday 25th December (Christmas Day) – NO SERVICE

Saturday 26th December (Boxing Day) – Trams run between 0900 and 2330

Sunday 27th December & Monday 28th December – Trams run between 0700 and 2330

Tuesday 29th & Wednesday 30th December – Trams run between 0630 and 0030

Thursday 31st December (New Year’s Eve) – Trams start at 0630 and a special night service will run on both lines

Friday 1st January 2016 (New Year’s Day) – Trams run between 0700 and 2330

Manchester Metrolink

Thursday 24th December (Christmas Eve) – Normal weekday services with last trams departing the City at approximately 2100

Friday 25th December (Christmas Day) – NO SERVICE

Saturday 26th December (Boxing Day) to Monday 28th December – Sunday service

Tuesday 29th & Wednesday 30th December – Normal service

Thursday 31st December (New Year’s Eve) – Friday service with last trams leaving Manchester City Centre at approximately 0100

Friday 1st January 2016 (New Year’s Day) – Sunday service

Midland Metro

Thursday 24th December (Christmas Eve) – Normal weekday service

Friday 25th December (Christmas Day) – NO SERVICE

Saturday 26th December (Boxing Day) – 8 minute Saturday service between 0800 and 1900

Sunday 27th & Monday 28th December – Sunday service

Tuesday 29th to Wednesday 31st December – Normal service

Friday 1st January 2016 (New Year’s Day) – Sunday service

Nottingham Express Transit

Thursday 24th December (Christmas Eve) – Normal weekday service

Friday 25th December (Christmas Day) – NO SERVICE

Saturday 26th December (Boxing Day) to Monday 28th December – Sunday service

Tuesday 29th & Wednesday 30th December – Normal service

Thursday 31st December (New Year’s Eve) – Normal weekday service with extra late night trams until around 0200 on New Year’s Day

Friday 1st January 2016 (New Year’s Day) – Sunday service

Stagecoach Supertram

Thursday 24th December (Christmas Eve) – Saturday timetable with early finish (last services start to run from approximately 1800)

Friday 25th December (Christmas Day) – NO SERVICE

Saturday 26th December (Boxing Day) – Special service from Meadowhall to Halfway/Middlewood. No service to Herdings Park or Malin Bridge

Sunday 27th December – Normal service

Monday 28th to Wednesday 30th December – Saturday service

Thursday 31st December (New Year’s Eve) – Saturday timetable with early finish (last services start to run from approximately 1800)

Friday 1st January 2016 (New Year’s Day) – Special service from Meadowhall to Halfway/Middlewood. No service to Herdings Park or Malin Bridge

    I see Blackpool still thinks it runs a bus company, having the only Tramway closed on boxing day. these days with the sales in full flow there must be sufficient numbers travelling to warrant running.
