After a couple of weeks hiatus we return with a round-up of when and where you can enjoy a ride on a heritage tram in the UK over the next few weeks. The highlights of this week look set to be the latest batch of enhanced heritage operation in Blackpool over the Bank Holiday weekend whilst if you like bands and trams Crich is the place for you. But of course those aren’t the only places you can go for a ride…
Beamish: The Living Museum of the North
Current Status: Open daily from 1000 to 1700.

Birkenhead Heritage Tramway
Current Status: Operates every Saturday and Sunday between 1300 and 1700. Also operates on May Day, Spring and August bank holidays and Wednesdays-Fridays during school holidays.
Timetable in operation: Trams depart Taylor Street every half hour between 1250 and 1620 returning from Woodside between 1305 and 1635 using 1 tram.
Next Special Event: See the Three Queens, Cunards Historic Visit – 24th & 25th May (enhanced tram service)

Blackpool Tramway
Current Status: Operates all weekends until Sunday 9th November plus school holidays and Bank Holidays.
Timetable in operation:
Saturday 9th, Sunday 10th, Saturday 16th, Sunday 17th, Tuesday 26th May to Sunday 31st May – Blue timetable (2 trams in service running between Pleasure Beach and North Pier up to every 20 minutes from 1000-1700)
Saturday 2nd & Saturday 23rd May – Green timetable (4 trams in service running between Pleasure Beach and Little Bispham every 20 minutes from 1000-1800)
Sunday 3rd, Monday 4th May, Sunday 24th & Monday 25th May – Gold timetable (6+ trams in service running between Pleasure Beach and Little Bispham with additional limited stop tours to Fleetwood)

Douglas Horse Tramway
Current Status: Resumes operation Monday 11th May and then daily until Sunday 13th September
Timetable in operation: First tram departs Strathallan at 0900 and then every 20 minutes until 1720. Return journeys commence from the Sea Terminal at 0920 and then every 20 minutes until 1740.

East Anglia Transport Museum
Current Status: Open Sundays and Wednesdays plus selected school holidays.
Open: Sundays and Wednesdays until Sunday 24th May. Also open Monday 4th May and Saturday 16th May. Opening hours 1200 until 1630.
Next Special Event: Mid-May 40’s Weekend – Saturday 16th (1200-2100) & Sunday 17th May (1030-1630)

Current Status: Daily operation.

Saturday 2nd to Monday 4th May – Timetable C (9 departures each way between Derby Castle and Ramsey plus 1 each way from Laxey to Ramsey and 1 each way between Derby Castle and Laxey)
Saturday 23rd to Sunday 31st May – Timetable D (14 departures from Derby Castle each day between 0840 and 1640, 5 of which only run as far as Laxey – same southbound journey pattern)

Snaefell Mountain Railway
Current Status: Daily operation.
Timetables in operation:
Saturday 2nd to Monday 4th May – Timetable C (every half hour from Laxey between 1015 and 1545, returning between 1110 and 1640)
Friday 1st May and Tuesday 5th May to Friday 22nd May – Timetable B (7 return trips up the mountain between 1015 and 1545)
Saturday 23rd May to Sunday 31st May – Timetable D (12 return trips up the mountain between 1015 and 1545)
Summerlee – The Museum of Scottish Industrial Life
Current Status: Open daily between 1000 and 1700.
Opening hours: 1000-1700. One tram is usually in service each day.

Minor correction:
Heaton Park Blackpool Event is scheduled for 8 & 9 August (not April)!
Its also not a Heaton Park event. It is a GMTH event of which the Tramway is part.
