Track works to cause disruption on NET over Easter

Nottingham Express Transit services will be suspended between The Forest and Wilkinson Street from Friday 3rd April until Wednesday 8th April to allow for a major upgrade of the tracks. The works need to be completed before the expansion of services to Clifton and Chilwell and are described as essential.

During the six day closure trams will run as normal from Station Street to The Forest and from Wilkinson Street to Phoenix Park/Hucknall. A replacement shuttle bus service will be in operation between The Forest and Wilkinson Street and extra NET staff will be on hand at both temporary termini to help passengers.

Paul Robinson, NET General Manager, explains more: “These essential works are being carried out over the holidays to minimise disruption and, as this is traditionally a quieter time on the network and local roads, we are also taking the opportunity to upgrade other sections of track in the area. Although every effort is being made to minimise inconvenience both to customers and local residents, we would ask people to allow a little extra time for their journey, particularly at peak times. The completion of the works will also mark another major step forward in our preparations for the expansion of services which will provide a reliable and easy-to-use cross-city transport link.”
