West Midlands Metro Urbos3s back at Dudley for repairs

In mid-January 2025 we reported that two West Midlands Metro trams had departed from Wednesbury Depot and as all recent moves had been to Worksop we made an assumption that’s where 34 and 36 had ended up (especially as they had both been there before). But that was a wrong assumption as the two trams have actually gone to the Very Light Rail Innovation Centre in Dudley where they seem to be undergoing repairs.

Urban Transport Group urge further and faster devolution to unlock economic growth

The Urban Transport Group – the UK’s network of transport authorities – have released a report which says that English devolution is delivering real change across major cities, from enhancing connectivity to boosting housebuilding, but that it needs to go “further and faster” to unlock more economic growth.

In Pictures: Six Nations Saturday in Edinburgh

The Six Nations Championship is back and once again Murrayfield Stadium will be the home venue for Scotland home matches – this year hosting three games against Italy, Ireland and Wales. The first of these matches took place on Saturday 1st February 2025 and as ever that sees Edinburgh Trams run more regular services to get the sell out crowds to the venue, which conveniently has its very own tramstop. Crich give more details on Lottery Heritage Fund cash

During the summer of 2024 the Crich Tramway Village were awarded £83,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Whilst we are used to funding such as these being for a big restoration project or something related to a new exhibition, this cash has a different purpose as it is to be used for a project called “Foundations First” which will help the museum plan for the future.

Severe Supertram disruption after Police incident

South Yorkshire Supertram services have been severely disrupted following a Police incident at a block of flats in the city centre. Police were called to the Gateway building on Broad Street near to Park Square at around 1900 on Monday 10th February and with a large cordon in place tram services have been amended during the ongoing incident.

London County Council 1 wins at the HRA Awards

The annual Heritage Railway Awards took place at a ceremony in Newcastle on the night of Saturday 8th February and it was a night of celebration for the Crich Tramway Village as London County Council 1 won the Diesel and Electric Locomotion category.

New survey shows passengers are satisfied with West Midlands Metro

More than nine out of ten passengers are satisfied with the West Midlands Metro according to a recent survey undertaken. The latest numbers are an increase from the last time a similar survey was run and management at West Midlands Metro have expressed their pleasure at these results.

Two more Metrocars go for scrap

In the recent update from Nexus on how they are planning the phased introduction of the new trains for the Tyne and Wear Metro they also mentioned how as units enter service it will lead to the continued disposal of already withdrawn and stored original Metrocars. And that is exactly what has happened recently as two further trains have gone away to meet their end.

Isle of Man heritage lines 2025 timetable revealed

Full dates of operation and planned timetables for the Isle of Man Steam Railway, Manx Electric Railway, Snaefell Mountain Railway and Duglas Bay Horse Tramway in 2025 have now been announced. The dates of operation had previously been announced in 2025 but this is the first time that the full timetable has been published.
