More revised services for Metrolink

No Manchester Metrolink services will be able to run through Victoria for four days starting on Thursday 8th July to allow urgent utility repairs to be undertaken by Electricity North West. This is all to do with the fire at Balloon Street which saw a disruption to services last month and comes after an investigation between TfGM and Electricity North West into the cause of the fire.

Kingsway Tram Tunnel to be opened as part of Hidden London events

Over the past 18 months or so one of the most popular series of articles we have run on British Trams Online has been “Still Standing” where we have taken a look at some of those first generation tramway structures which are still in situ. One feature of this series was the Kingsway Tram Tunnel in central London where we took a look at what can still be seen from the outside but now the London Transport Museum are offering tours of the tunnel for the first time as part of their Hidden London series of events.

In Pictures: Platform repairs at North Pier

Over the past couple of weeks the southbound stop at North Pier on the Blackpool Tramway has been seeing some work which has meant part of the platform has been closed off. With a different part of the platform being affected each week trams have stopped accordingly on the platform to still allow access on and off the tram. As trams are currently only boardable at either of the centre double doors this isn’t a problem as the length of platform still available allows both of these to be accessible by passengers.
