In Pictures: Manchester Metrolink T68As continue to fly the flag

The two remaining Manchester Metrolink T68As – 2001 and 2003 – continue to be operational and are still seeing fairly regular use. It is expected that from Monday 24th February they will be restricted to the Bury-Abraham Moss shuttle (considering that the Bury-Altrincham direct service will be operated solely by double units and they aren’t able to operate in a pair) but in the past week they have been able to stretch their legs a bit more. Photos are provided below showing both of the LRVs in action both at Bury and at the Altrincham end of the line.

2003 approaches Bury on 15th February with the destination already changed to Altrincham.

2001 stands at Altrincham ahead of departure for Bury on 15th February.

2001 stops at Sale with a service to Altrincham on 8th February 2014. (All photos: Steve Kemp)

They have seen very little use so far on the Abraham Moss shuttles, in fact i have not seen them at all and they go past my house. My hopes of a last swansong of regular use on these shuttles seems to be nothing but a pipe dream 🙁
