Massive interest for NET recruitment programme

A recent successful driver recruitment programme on Nottingham Express Transit has seen over 30 people already start new jobs with many more positions to be filled in the coming months ahead of the opening of the extensions to Beeston, Chilwell and Clifton at the end of this year.

More than 400 people applied for the first batch of jobs, a number that impressed officials at Nottingham Express Transit. Paul Robinson, NET General Manager, said: “The growth of the tram network will have a major positive impact on public transport in Nottingham and clearly there is a great deal of interest from people who want to be part of the tram’s success story. In total, 421 people responded to the latest campaign, and we will be inviting more candidates to attend formal assessment days in the summer as we look to take on around 20 more drivers.”

So far 63 new drivers have been employed on Nottingham Express Transit with 31 of these starting their training during 2013 before this latest batch of 32. A further 20 or so are likely to be employed before this year is out as well and it is expected that the vast majority of these will be from Nottingham or the Greater Nottingham area.

Any vacancies for the tram project will be advertised at http://www.nottinghamjobs.com, where details are also provided on how to apply for the positions.
