East Anglia Transport Museum announce 2026 events

The East Anglia Transport Museum walked away with the “Museum/Heritage Tramway of the Year” at the recent British Trams Online Tram of the Year Awards and they aren’t ones to be resting on their laurels with their 2026 events programme having already been announced.

As is usual with the EATM it’s a diverse programme of events with both new and returning events set to dominate over the course of the year.

Their big event at the end of September will see another change after last year’s London based weekend. 2026 will see a Festival of Transport take place which will celebrate all modes of transport – old and new! This once again features the late night running on the first day with trams, trolleybuses and the railway operating until 2100. This event takes place on Saturday 26th (1200-2100) and Sunday 27th September (1100-1700).

The year kicks off – on the first day of opening for the season – with an Easter Treasure Hunt (3rd to 5th April 2026), and other returning events will include the rebranded Frights at the Museum (28th-31st October) and Ride the Lights (12th, 13th, 19th-22nd December).

Other events will see Swinging 60s Weekend (16th and 17th May), 1940s Weekend (18th and 19th July), and Showtime Sundays (2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th August).

But it won’t all be about special events, as the museum will also be open regularly throughout the season. The first opening day will be Friday 3rd April and it will be open until Saturday 31st October.

The opening pattern will be:

  • April – Friday 3rd to Monday 6th, then Thursdays and Sundays except Sunday 19th April
  • May – Every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday plus Mondays 4th and 25th, and Saturday 16th
  • June – Every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday
  • July – Every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday plus Saturday 18th
  • August – Every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday plus Monday 31st
  • September – Every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday plus Saturday 26th
  • October – Every Thursday and Sunday plus daily Wednesday 28th to Saturday 31st
  • December – Saturday 12th, Sunday 13th, Saturday 18th to Tuesday 22nd
