Numbers 11 – Blackpool Marton VAMBAC 11

“Numbers” goes east.

Blackpool Marton VAMBAC 11 is the only survivor of this class of tram, a class which received the modern VAMBAC equipment when they were upgraded to run on the Marton route in the 1950s. 11 would be withdrawn in 1962 and three years later would enter preservation with a spell at Hayling Island for a proposed tramway there. When that didn’t happen it would travel east to the East Anglia Transport Museum and has enjoyed significant work there to bring it up to operational condition and is now regularly used alongside other trams in service. This was 29th March 2024 with the tram coming back to Chapel Road and passing the tram depot. (Photograph by Gareth Prior, 29th March 2024)
