We have another edition of “Picture in Time” for you today as we continue our look at trams running on the Midland Metro.
This week we reach 04, another of the 16 T69s built in Italy for when the system opened to the public in 1999. The tram is just calling at The Hawthorns (one of three stops on the original line that offered cross platform interchange with national rail services) on its way north. The destination blind (all trams initially had roller blinds when new) tells us its only going to Wednesbury Parkway but whether that was the case or not has been lost to history.
04 ran its last in February 2015 and then left for Long Marston on 23rd March 2016. Like many others it then went for scrap in 2018.
