Transport for London have confirmed that they have temporarily taken the new trains out of service whilst they investigate an incident which occurred during November 2025.
In a statement on the TfL website they say: “TfL has temporarily withdrawn its new B23 DLR trains from service as a precautionary measure, following an issue with one train’s braking performance during wet weather. An investigation is now underway to fully understand the cause and return the trains to service.”
The withdrawal of the trains took place at some point during the first week of November and according to the statement from TfL came after an isolated incident. Its been reported elsewhere that this was an overrun incident at station in which a train failed to stop as required, although exact details have not been revealed in the statement.
BBC News have picked up on the incident although despite including a quote from Scott Haxton, TfL’s Director of Capital Delivery Infrastructure, there is very little additional information from the original single paragraph on the TfL website.
What it does say though is that the reduced timetable remains in operation (as it has been since 21st July following the withdrawal of more of the older units) with no mention of when the issue may have been fixed and the new trains will return to service.
