In Pictures: Another advert on the West Midlands Metro

They’re like London buses! We’re only 10 days into 2026 but the West Midlands Metro already have their second new advert of the year as 47 has followed 56 in receiving a set of vinyls with the tram now advertising itv.

Of course, 47 is not the only tram in the UK to be advertising itv as we’ve already seen that up on Manchester Metrolink, 3102 has also received an advert as part of their “There’s No Place Like itv” promotion. But whereas usually when we see a couple of tramways receive adverts for the same company they are more or less identical this time it’s a different story.

The Manchester one features Coronation Street as the main part of the advert but for 47 it uses the words “Brum’s Got Talent” with itv obviously going for regionalised versions of their adverts.

47 is another tram which hadn’t previously carried an advert. It now means that 11 of the 21 strong class of Urbos100 trams have had adverts of some type, plus nine of the 21 original Urbos3 trams. Currently trams with adverts are 47, 52 (the longest standing for City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra) and 56 (receiving an ad for the West Midlands Business Festival earlier this month).

47 is seen in this image calling at Corporation Street on its way to Edgbaston Village with its bright yellow vinyls for “There’s No Place Like itv”.

We featured 56 the other day in its partial wrap for the West Midlands Business Festival with a view of one side which included orange vinyls. The other side is purple as we see in this shot also taken at Corporation Street. (Both Photographs by Mark Cufflin, 10th January 2026)
