Customer experience is one of the buzzwords in all industries in the 21st century and public transport has been no different. To help improve the experience of customers (or passengers as they once were) Blackpool Transport have recently created a new team of customer assistants that have transformed tram and bus trips, offering quicker boarding and face-to-face travel advice as part of an enhanced customer experience.
The team can be found in their easily identifiable pink uniforms at various key locations on both the tram and bus network across the Fylde Coast, and have become a welcome sight for both regular public transport users and visitors to the area.
Jamie Swift, Head of Service Delivery, said: “As well as enabling customers to buy their ticket in advance, they can get all the help and assistance they may need before boarding. This is particularly important during the busy summer and illumination seasons, when many customers may be using the tram and bus network for the first time, and during special events such as the town’s popular Illumination Switch On and Fireworks Championship.”
The 16-strong team are also available to help manage crowds and queues when necessary, helping people to get where they need to go with the minimum of fuss while enabling tram conductors and bus drivers to focus on their own roles.
