In Pictures: Just another day at Carlton Colville

We are currently in the main operating season at the East Anglia Transport Museum which means it is open for three days a week – Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. That gives even more opportunities to visit the only place in the UK where you can currently ride on trams, trolleybuses and trains all in one place! Tuesday 5th August was another operating day and we see some of the trams and trolleybuses which were out and about on that day in this article. Bryan Grint with the images.

With Bournemouth 202 seeing extensive use this summer – thanks in no small part to a prolonged period of pleasant weather – it opens up new photo angles as its easy to take photos from the open top deck! Here we see another south coast trolleybus heading round the circuit and about to pass the body of Lowestoft 23 which is now used for an exhibition. The trolleybus is Portsmouth 313.

Another image taken from on top of 202 as we see Blackpool Marton VAMBAC 11 arriving back at Chapel Road following a journey into the woods at Hedley Grove. The Lowestoft tram body looks on again.

Sheffield 513 then heads off with the next journey on the tramway.

A look at Chapel Road terminus where 11 sits alongside Portsmouth trolleybus 313.

Bournemouth 202 backs into the stabling point as it takes a break.

London Transport trolleybus 1201 was parked up along the back road and here we see it being passed by Portsmouth 313.

Blackpool Marton VAMBAC 11 is seen as it embarks on another journey.

Sheffield 513 passes the main trolleybus depot. In the depot we can see from left to right, Hastings 34, Bournemouth 286, Maidstone 52, Nottingham 578 and Ipswich 102. (All Photographs by Bryan Grint, 5th August 2025)
