In Pictures: Double Ozzy Osbourne trams as West Midlands Metro pays its respects

Wednesday 30th July 2025 saw Birmingham pause to remember a music legend as Ozzy Osbourne’s funeral procession took place ahead of a private funeral the following day. West Midlands Metro were amongst those who paid their respects and with 37 currently being unavailable for service two other trams were used carrying his name.

West Midlands Metro Urbos3 37 had been named Ozzy Osbourne on 26th May 2016 with the man himself undertaking the naming. Despite the fact that it has gone from magenta to blue and been out of service for extended periods of time it has retained the name but following the passing of Ozzy Osbourne with it being unavailable for service two Urbos100s received the name – 49 and 57.

On the day of the funeral procession one of the trams was parked at Library as the funeral procession made its way through the city with all tram services suspended between Grand Central and Edgbaston Village from 0700 until 1600.

49 with the larger Ozzy Osbourne name sticker is seen the day after the funeral procession at Wednesbury Great Western Street,

The second Ozzy tram is also seen at Wednesbury Great Western Street. This is 57 for Wolverhampton Station. (Both Photographs by Shiv Patel, 31st July 2025)
