Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd June 2025 will see the return of the Past Times event at the Crich Tramway Village. This is a mulit-era event allowing visitors to have a fun look back through history, covering a range of historical periods.
The Woodland Walk will be home to the medieval re-enactment group The Ferrers Household. They will be demonstrating crafts and activities including a cooking display, woodworking, musical instruments, a blacksmith, wood turning, leather working, calligraphy, kids’ games and an armoury display. There will also be timed battle drills.
Derwent View will see a Roman Encampment with Legio VIII Augusta. They will have displays of Roman engineering and surveying, coin making, and writing. Talk to a soldier to find out all about their daily life and there will be demonstrations of military formations and equipment.
If you want to get more recent history then you can head to the Bandstand where Lady Lindy will be performing music from the Old Time Music Hall and the 1920s, Jayne Darling and Kev Mac with music from the 1940s, Paul Birch performing songs from the 1950s and 1960s, and an Abba Tribute will also be performing.
The future will also be represented (in a way) by Storm troopers and other 1970s futuristic characters and there will be an exhibit from Who Ray Dalek Sci Fi in the Exhibition Hall.
Candi Bell, Events Manager, said: “This two- day event is a Time Traveller’s fun day out. We want to take visitors on a historical journey and let them see and experience what it was like back in those historic times and well as being able to get involved in some of the activities and enjoy live music with the historical reenactments, the1970s sci-fi and some surprises. There is something for everyone. What’s more, your return tickets can be used for this event.”
Trams will, of course, also be running! The museum is open 1000-1730 (last admission 1600) on both days.
