Edinburgh Trams 262 suffered damage after it was involved in a collision with a lorry on Leith Walk during the late afternoon of Thursday 22nd May 2025. Online eyewitness reports say that the tram was hit by the back of a lorry at Dalmeny Street with photos showing damage to at least one of the passenger doors and surrounding area of the tram.
The accident was first reported shortly before 1700 with Edinburgh Trams announcing that trams were only running between Edinburgh Airport and Balfour Street with no service from there to Newhaven. As you come to expect, there was ticket acceptance on Lothian Bus services to get people further along the line.
The disruption didn’t last for that long with an announcement not long after 1900 stating that services had resumed, albeit with delays as things started to get back into the right place.
Police Scotland confirmed they were called to the incident at 1655 and that one man suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
262 was returned to depot where it will be assessed before repairs can be undertaken.
