In Pictures: More Supertram Easter trackworks

This is the second part of our look at some of the work which took place on the South Yorkshire Supertram network over the Easter weekend. In our last look, we saw the start of a track relay adjacent to Hillsborough Interchange and the start of work at Hillsborough Corner and now we see the conclusion of the Corner work and the start of more renewal at Middlewood. Stuart Cooke with the photos.

This was only a three day closure (during which time no trams ran any further than Shalesmoor towards either Malin Bridge or Middlewood) over the start of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, with normal services resumed from the start of service on Monday 21st April 2025.

The condition of the trackbed at Hillsborough Corner – the junction where the Blue route heads along Holme Lane and the Yellow route continues along Middlewood Road – has been starting to cause some concern and so one of the major pieces of work over these three days was to work on that. This image shows some of the repairs on Middlewood Road.

Another look at where the work took place (Holme Lane goes off to the left). The patching of the road surface shows where work has been undertaken.

Sunday 20th April only saw more work completed at Middlewood. This view shows the team from VolkerRail attending to the track immediately before the Middlewood terminus. (All Photographs by Stuart Cooke, 20th April 2025)
