Merry Christmas! This edition of “Out and About” goes back to the end of August 2024 for the start of the Illumination season.
Although it was the second night of the illumination season this was the first Illumination Tours with them not able to operate on the switch-on night because of events on the Tower Headland. This photo depicts the popular Western Train as it approaches Pleasure Beach for another tour.
The second operational Illuminated feature car was the Frigate, HMS Blackpool. The tram is seen here as it comes round Gynn Square with a southbound tour.
It wasn’t just about the heritage trams on this night, Flexity2 trams were also operating the core service and here is 015 which is working a service to Fleetwood Ferry at Pleasure Beach. This would run direct to the northern extremity of the tramway with no trams operating via North Station at this time during the main illuminations season.
