We are heading back to 1982 for this next edition of “Picture in Time”.
It may be further back in time than the last couple of images but it’s the same location as we are at what is now known as the Crich Tramway Village. The scene surrounding Blackpool & Fleetwood 2 is both familiar and different although you can easily work out just where you are at the museum. 2 is just about to pass where The Red Lion is now located on the right hand side.
On the left hand side Leeds 180 and Glasgow 1282 are stabled roughly where the Workshop extension can now be found. The Stone Workshop is familiar on the far left of the image whilst further into the distance the fence around the depot yard can be clearly made out.
Blackpool & Fleetwood 2, built in 1898, holds two pieces of history at Crich being the first tram to run under the overhead wires and then the first electric tram in service within a month of each other in June and July 1964. It is currently a static exhibit.
