Metro performance apparently increases in latest four week period

The latest Tyne and Wear Metro performance poster gives some reason for cheer – if its to be believed! – as it suggests that the number of trains running on time has increased, although its still only 3 in every 4 trains that is considered to be on time.

This poster covers the period from 10th November to 7th December 2024 and in those four weeks the figures state that 75% of trains were running on time.

When you compare that with the previous four weeks the figure was at 67% whilst 2023 saw the figure down as low as 61%.

But with train reliability often making the news across the region a 75% figure seems rather optimistic with some days seeing significant numbers cancelled and removed from the timetable.
