In Pictures: A look at Birmingham’s Eastside extension – Part 2

Ken Jones is back with some more photos as his walk along the route of the Birmingham Eastside extension of the West Midlands Metro continues. Having reached the HS2 station last time he now starts to take a look at the section of the route from the Clayton Hotel, which will be the first part of the line to welcome passengers.

Here we approach the Clayton Hotel and you can see Midland Metro Alliance work underway between the footpath and HS2 site.

The boardings start to change as well to the familiar Midland Metro Alliance colours.

We emerge onto Moor Street Queensway where the tracks are already in situ.

Bottom end of Albert Street where wooden mould are in situ before concrete is laid to hold the track in place

Another view on Albert Street with much of the track down.

Track is in place at connection of Lower Bull Street and Albert Street.

Journey’s end – top of Albert street where the concrete has already been poured and allowed to set. (All Photographs by Ken Jones, 6th November 2024)
