West Midlands Metro to offer free travel for armed forces

West Midlands Metro are the latest UK tramway to confirm that on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day they will be offering veterans, current members of the armed forces and cadets free travel. They will also be observing a moment of silence to honour those who have fallen in the two world wars and more recent conflicts.

Sophie Allison, Managing Director of West Midlands Metro, said: “The dedication and heroism displayed by members of the armed forces, both past and present, we’re offering free travel to veterans and current Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel attending Remembrance events over the weekend. We’ll never forget the sacrifices made by these brave men and women. Offering free travel is a small way of showing our gratitude for all they have done to protect us,”

At 1100 on both Remembrance Sunday (10th November) and Armistice Day (11th November) all tram services will pause for a two minute silence.

Free travel will be available to military personnel in uniform, displaying medals, or with military ID, as well as cadets in uniform.
