A former supermarket has now been demolished as progress is made on the development of a new Bus and Metro interchange in Dudley. The large building and remaining bus shelters were stripped down and removed over the last three months which means the site is nearly completely clear which will then allow the construction phase to get underway.
The interchange is due to be complete by next year and will be served by the new West Midlands Metro line. The tram extension is also due to be open in 2025 as part of the first phase of the Wednesbury-Dudley-Merry Hill-Brierley Hill line.
Jo Shore, Director of Delivery at Transport for West Midlands, said: “The removal of the largest building on the former bus station site is a clear sign of progress and we can now look forward to the start of construction in the coming weeks.”
Cllr Paul Bradley, deputy leader of Dudley Council and cabinet member responsible for economic delivery, added: “Work continues to progress on the exciting Dudley Interchange, which forms an important part of our regeneration programme for Dudley town centre.”
