In Pictures: Signal failure causes West Midlands Metro problems

West Midlands Metro services to Edgbaston Village were disrupted on Friday 8th March following a problem with the signals allowing the trams to go to and from the stop. Work was taking place on the traffic signals at this location at the time which also impacted the trams.

The work on the traffic signals led to these being switched off and this also impacted the tram signals. With the tram signals not on it meant that trams did not have permission to proceed which caused some additional congestion. Whilst the issue was resolved trams were turned back at Library although 45 was stuck at Edgbaston Village.

45 is at the front of a queue of buses as it just comes out from the Five Ways underpass. Unfortunately, there was no signal here to allow it to proceed hence why there’s a nice traffic jam forming behind it.
