Stop by Stop London Trams: Beckenham Junction & Elmers End lines – Birkbeck

Another edition of “Stop by Stop” as our journey on London Trams carries on.

Last time out we were at Avenue Road and our journey goes back to a single line section after leaving that stop before we reach Birkbeck. This is another single platform stop with shelter, validators, passenger information displays etc. in place. On the opposite side of the tracks (tram and railway) is a railway station served by trains on the Crystal Palace line. Its not exactly cross platform interchange though as you can’t get to one from the other without leaving the stop/station.

2549 departs from Birkbeck on the way to Beckenham Junction. As it arrives at the tramstop we can look to the left hand side where the railway station is located, again the two are split by a fence. (Photograph by Gareth Prior, 21st September 2021)
