In Pictures: Edinburgh Trams 263 receives new advert

The seemingly never ending application of new adverts in Edinburgh is still showing no signs of abating with 263 the latest to receive a new design. This time the advertiser is Tennent’s Lager – no stranger to advertising on the tramway.

The new advert was applied in mid-August and is of the partial “Edinburgh” style which includes full height adverts on the third and fifth sections and the remainder of the tram just including adverts above the windows. It has a dark background, images of glasses of Tennent’s and the slogan “The fresh taste that’s raised in Scotland”.

This advert replaces an ad for Seven Peaks IPA (April 2023-August 2023) and is the third alcohol sponsor for the tram in a row with Glenmorangie Whisky having been on the tram beforehand (November 2022-April 2023). Other previous adverts have been for CR Smith (August 2017-November 2019), American Express (November 2019-March 2020) and Spotify (August-November 2022).

Tennent’s have now had three adverts on the tramway having previously had designs on 264 (June-December 2022) and 267 (January-July 2023). With very short gaps between each of those adverts its almost as if they decide not to renew the contract and then a few weeks later think it would be a great idea to advertise on the trams again!
