Manchester Metrolink Then & Now: Mosley Street

We head over to other side of Manchester City Centre for this edition of “Manchester Metrolink Then & Now”.

Mosley Street is another busy section of Metrolink today, with the section seen in these photos being on the original city crossing which is served by trams on the Eccles-Ashton, Bury-Altrincham, Altrincham-Piccadilly, Victoria-Airport and MediaCityUK-Ethihad Campus routes.

In 1989 Mosley Street was a busy road and as this view shows saw many bus services using it with at least four buses seen in the photo, including a Crosville vehicle closest to us. We’re outside Manchester Art Gallery which is at the St Peter’s Square end of the road.

On 13th August 2023 3121 passes the Art Gallery with a service from the Airport to Victoria. As well as the tram now being king on Mosley Street there has also been further development in the background with many new buildings. (Both Photographs by Keith Chadbourne)
