In Pictures: West Midlands Metro 58 delivered

There is a new highest numbered tram in town after the delivery of West Midlands Metro’s Urbos100 58 to Wednesbury Depot on Wednesday 9th August 2023. This leaves just two of the initial order of 21 trams to turn up, although there is the “extra” 22nd tram to also come, no. 59.

58 was delivered to the depot around lunchtime (in the pretty standard arrival slot for the majority of the trams arriving directly at the depot rather than those on Bilston Road). As with all previous Urbos100s the tram was built by CAF at their plant in Zaragoza, Spain and was then transported across via Bristol Docks and then driven the remainder to the West Midlands Metro.

The delivery of 58 is the first new tram to arrive since 54 on 5th July 2023. It also leaves two more of the initial order of trams (52 and 55) to come plus 59 (the extra one). 17 of the Urbos100s have also run in service since arrival 3851, 53, 56 and 57.

The local constabulary give directions to the lorry driver before 58 is delivered to the depot.
