Another repaired tram returns to service on the West Midlands Metro

Its getting hard to keep up with what is and isn’t back in service, delivered, commissioned, testing and just plain old stored on the West Midlands Metro! (As you’ll tell from some of our articles recently!) After the first week of May saw two repaired Urbos3 return to service (26 and 29) we can now report that another of the Dudley visitors has been used again.

That latest tram is 24 which was first seen back in service on Friday 12th May 2023. 24 had headed to the Very Light Rail Innovation Centre in Dudley in January 2023 with it returning to Wednesbury in March 2023 after its repairs were completed. With further work and commissioning then taking place at the West Midlands Metro depot the tram was prepared for service and allocated to service on 12th May.

Of the trams which have been to Dudley four have now returned to service. These have been 17, 24, 26 and 29. The only other two to have returned are 20 (back 11th April 2023) and 27 (back January 2023).
