In Pictures: West Midlands Metro 41 back in service

West Midlands Metro Urbos100 41 is now back in service having spent the past couple of months off the road. Although most of our attention has been turned towards the Urbos3 trams which have been undergoing repairs and the newer Urbos100s as they make their first forays out onto the mainline there have also been a few other absentees from service recently and this has been one of them.

41 has been out of service for at least two months with it stored in the depot complex awaiting attention to fix an undisclosed fault. At the start of April it was spotted back outside the depot having been readied for service and was believed to be on standby in case it was needed on several occasions. It was finally allocated to service on Sunday 9th April – and this is thought to be its first use since repaired.

Of the Urbso100s, 42 remains sidelined whilst both 51 and 53 have yet to enter service following their delivery although as we’ve seen recently 53 has been in use on daytime driver training.

Isn’t the bottom photograph of 41 actually on Broad Street near to the Black Sabbath bridge?

    • Gareth Prior says:

Yes it is but for some reason I have some sort of mental block where I keep calling Broad Street Corporation Street!

  2. Ginger Doctor says:

42 was also out and about this week
