As you will have noticed from the regular Transport for Greater Manchester committee reports, Manchester Metrolink has been suffering from tram shortage for a while which has included several long-term absentees. But that number has now been reduced by one following the return to action of 3083.
3083 had last run in February 2022 and has been undergoing attention at Trafford Depot in recent months to see it returned to action. The tram was noted powered up outside the depot at the end of the week commencing 27th February and after testing was returned to service from 4th March.
There remain several other trams out of use long-term (with the longest one out of use being 3027 which was last in service in May 2019) with work likely to continue on returning the fleet to as high a number as possible.
