Prices to increase on Edinburgh Trams

Ticket prices on Edinburgh Trams will increase for the first time in around three years from Sunday 2nd April. All tickets will be affected by the increase and is in line with similar changes being introduced by Lothian Buses.

Described as a modest price increase an Adult City Zone single will rise by 20p from £1.80 to £2.00, whilst a Return will go from £3.40 to £3.80. Child single and returns will remain exactly half that price while an Adulr Dayticket will go up by 50p to £5.00.

The UK’s most expensive stretch of tramway (between Ingliston Park and Ride and the Airport) has also seen significant rises with an Airport Zone single up from £6.50 to £7.50 and an Airport Zone Return £9.50 from £9.00. Child fares for that ticket are not exactly half as a single will be £3.80 and a return £5.00. If you want to enjoy the complete network including the section to the Airport a day ticket will set you back £12.00 (was £10.00). That means just to travel the extra distance from Ingliston to the Airport all day will cost you an additional £7.00.

Its not clear whether there will be further changes once the extension to Newhaven opens.

  1. Hugh Jones says:

You would think they would like to encourage people to use the tram to get to the airport and not discourage them
I understand it’s not too far to walk from Ingliston
