Macmillan Cancer Support named West Midlands Metro Charity of the Year 2023

Staff at the West Midlands Metro have voted for Macmillan Cancer Support to be their charity of the year for 2023 which means their fundraising efforts will be concentrated towards the organisation. This announcement comes just a few weeks after it was confirmed that the 2022 Charity of the Year, Compton Care, had received over £1,000 in donations from the company.

Vicki Bennett, West Midlands Metro Customer Service Manager, said: “In the past we’ve supported a wide range of local and national appeals, but more recently we’ve been focusing our fundraising activity around just one charity at a time, voted for by the team. In 2022 we raised an amazing total of just over £1,000 for Wolverhampton-based Compton Care, and this year we’ll be aiming to at least match that impressive sum through raffles, coffee mornings and a host of other fundraising events.”

John Harrison, Relationship Funding Manager in the West Midlands for Macmillan Cancer Support, added: “Through better treatment we have added years to life, but now we need to add life to years. With the help of the Metro team, we can deliver this life-changing impact. We are delighted to have been chosen as their charity of the year for 2023, and I’m really looking forward to working with them over the year to raise awareness about the support Macmillan offers to people affected by cancer, and to support the fundraising activities they take on.”
