In Pictures: Gosforth Depot infrastructure works start

As we reported last week as well as the construction of a new depot and associated buildings at the Tyne and Wear Metro depot at South Gosforth there is also the necessity for some infrastructure works at the entrance to the site. This required a line closure over the weekend of 21st and 22nd January (and a further closure on 11th/12th February) and as we see in this pictorial update from Trevor Hall this enabled work to take place on the overhead.

There may have been heavy frost but that didn’t stop the work from taking place. This is the east end of the site where work is underway on the erection of new overhead support poles. When comparing these with the existing poles on the right you can see a significant difference in size.

Another view of the work taking place. The depot can be seen at the back left with the new building on the extreme left with the Stadler logo at the top. (Both Photographs by Trevor Hall, 21st January 2023)
