Picture in Time: South Yorkshire Supertram 03

We remain in Sheffield for this latest “Picture in Time” and as we continue our way through the photos taken during this visit we move up one number in the fleet as its no. 03 which captured the photographers attention.

03 was delivered to Nunnery Depot on 29th September 1993 and was the fourth of the trams to make the trip from Germany (02, 04 and 05 pre-dated it with the first few trams not arriving in number order). As we see in this view it arrived in the standard original fleet livery.

This photo was taken on 9th March 1995 and we see 03 climbing up from Fitzalan Square towards Castle Square with a service for Shalesmoor. C&A is on the left. Shalesmoor was as far in that direction as the network ran at that point with the lines to Middlewood and Malin Bridge until 23rd October 1995.
