Taxi and tram collide in Manchester City Centre

Metrolink services through Manchester City Centre were disrupted on Friday 9th December after a collision between a taxi and a car close to Shudehill tramstop. The collision happened shortly after 1800 and saw no trams able to run via 1CC for around an hour and a half.

The collision happened just after Shudehill stop with a tram heading towards Market Street being the Metrolink vehicle which collided with the taxi. One person on board the taxi was taken to hospital as a precaution which no other injuries reported.

Whilst the collision was dealt with services from Bury to Altrincham and from Victoria to Manchester Airport were diverted via 2CC whilst the services which normally run from Bury to Piccadilly were diverted to run to Deansgate-Castlefield.

Services were able to resume not long after 1900.
