In Pictures: Edinburgh Trams disruption after building fire

Services on the Edinburgh Trams network were temporarily suspended between West End and St Andrew Square on Wednesday 7th December after a fire in a building on South St Andrew Street. With the overhead isolated no trams were able to run along Princes Street and to St Andrew Square for about four hours whilst the fire was dealt with.

The fire was reported to be in a five storey office building and required six fore engines and 30 firefighters to attend from around 1115. Police Scotland also attended the scene to assist with cordoning the area off. There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.

The closure of the route along Princes Street meant that a couple of trams were stranded at St Andrew Square whilst the fire was dealt with. Here we see 274 and 261 waiting patiently at the stop.

The passenger information display telling would be passengers of the service disruption.

Three of the fire engines, lots of firefighters and a fire investigation van all in attendance. (All Photographs by Roy Calderwood, 7th December 2022)
