Crich Photo line-ups: London Trams – 2013

Throughout December this new photographic series will be taking a look at some of the line-ups at the Crich Tramway Village showcasing the many varied trams in their collection, usually with a theme whether that be a certain system or a certain type of tram. These are often some of the highlights of special events at the museum and during this series we will show some of the best in recent years. We start off in 2013 with a London line-up.

This line-up was part of Enthusiasts Day on 14th September 2013 and was showing the four London passenger cars at Crich, shortly before the major restoration of London County Council 1 (at that point in time still in the red London Transport livery) would begin (it entered the workshops the following June). This was probably the last time that these four trams were displayed together in this condition.

From left to right we have London United Tramways 159, London Transport 1622, London County Council 1 and Metropolitan Electric Tramways 331 as the quartet pose for the photographers.

A second shot of the four trams, this time from a different angle. (Both Photographs by Gareth Prior)
