In Pictures: Overhead support brackets start to go up in Edinburgh

It was reported earlier this month that the overhead wires for the Trams to Newhaven project in Edinburgh would start to be installed in November/December ahead of testing starting in early 2023. Now evidence of preparation for this work to take place is obvious with the brackets to support the wires being installed on Leith Walk.

The 2.91 mile extension runs from York Place in Edinburgh City Centre to Newhaven via Leith Walk and Ocean Terminal. The entire route will require overhead wires to be installed and much of this will be strung from poles which have already been put in place. Many of these will double as street lighting which has replaced previous lamp standards which were located on both pavements.
