Delays after woman hit by tram in Blackpool

Services on the Blackpool Tramway were disrupted on Monday 6th June after a woman was hit by a tram at Lowther Avenue. The incident happened shortly before 1200 with tram services disrupted for nearly five hours whilst the emergency services attended the scene.

There was some confusion as to whether the lady struck was in her 20s or 50s as the Polcie released a statement to say she was in her 50s with the ambulance service stating she was in her 20s. She was taken to hospital for treatment although there was no comment on the severity of her injuries.

Immediately following the incident all services on the tramway were suspended although a short while later there was a service introduced from Starr Gate to Cabin and Bispham to Fleetwood.
