New traction poles delivered to Crich

A positive sign to report from Crich where they have now taken delivery of new traction poles and gravity blocks. These will be installed around the depot fan in due course which will allow tram services to start again after they were suspended last month following an ORR prohibition notice.

The new poles will replace pole 2 and pole 4 on the depot fan, which are the areas of concern from a safety perspective. The work to install these new poles will include excavation work in order to put the new gravity blocks under the surface and so it will not be a quick job.

It is a good sign that they have now arrived and will hopefully mean that sooner rather than later Crich will be fully open and everyone can enjoy a tram ride once more.

For the time being Crich remains on limited opening with no tram rides and the depots and exhibition hall out of bounds. Reduced admission of £5 for adults/seniors and free for children is also in place. More details of opening days at https://www.tramway.co.uk/plan-your-visit/tickets/.
