We reported last month that Edinburgh Trams were starting a major recruitment drive in preparation for the start of services to Newhaven in 2023 and now as the campaign steps up a gear CAF built tram 258 has received an advertising livery to publicise it.
The campaign is said to be targeting “ambitious individuals with a passion for delivering the best possible customer service”. The wrap on 258 – in the usual Edinburgh format of full height adverts on the third and fifth section of the tram and just above window vinyls above the windows on the rest of the tram – is just part of the campaign which also includes extensive advertising in the media including on the radio. Its using the slogan “How far can you go with Edinburgh Trams?”.
Lea Harrison, Managing Director of Edinburgh Trams, said: “For many visitors to the city, our Customer Service and Ticketing Assistants are the first people they meet, while thousands of residents rely on us every day to get around. That’s why the campaign builds on our mission of delivering ‘Excellence for Edinburgh’ while highlighting the long-term career opportunities offered by the expanding network. Over the coming months we will also need more tram drivers and engineers will also be required, proving even more exciting opportunities to join our growing, dynamic team.”
For 258 this advert replaces one for John Lewis which had been applied in May 2021. The tram’s only other previous advert was for C R Smith (from Turnberry to Blair Drummond) between September 2017 and February 2021.
All new starters at Edinburgh Trams benefit from a competitive salary, 33 days annual leave, overtime available with Bank Holiday rates, contributory pension scheme, life cover, HSF Health Plan and a Cycle to Work scheme.
