Two Tyne & Wear Metro stations in Newcastle and Sunderland have had a festive makeover with the iconic yellow and black Metro cubes gaining a touch of Christmas sparkle. The station cubes at Monument and Park Lane Interchange have received the additions to bring festive cheer to passengers using the network again.
Huw Lewis, Nexus Customer Services Director, said: “The Metro cube is an iconic feature of everyday life on our city centres and we wanted to give them a bit of a Christmas makeover this year as we welcome more customers back for the festive season. Two of our cubes in Newcastle and in Sunderland have had some eye-catching Christmassy designs added to their iconic Calvert fonts. We hope that our customers like the designs and it helps to get everyone in the festive spirit this year, as we look to build back from lockdown.”
