15 Years Apart: Oporto 273

A tram which comes from abroad but has now made Crich its home is the feature of this latest edition of “15 Years Apart”

Arriving in the UK during 1995 and would enter service after a major restoration at Crich in 2002, by 2006 it had established itself in service in its distinctive ochre and cream livery. Taken on 11th June 2006 we see 273 standing at Wakebridge with a service returning to the main museum site.

As with the majority of preserved trams we have seen in this series as we head forward 15 years to 18th September 2021 very little has changed for the tram. It has seen workshop attention in this period – as well as an unsuccessful trip to Blackpool – but is now back in service and in this image the Portuguese car is about to return to depot at the end of Tram Day.
