In Pictures: Bus Running Day at Beamish – with added trams!

On Saturday 23rd October, Beamish held their second transport based event since re-opening after the pandemic with a Bus Running Day taking place. As well as resident buses there were a number of visiting vehicles and with the trams (Blackpool 31 was the chosen tram for service) also running it gave the opportunity to get some unique photos. In this pictorial article – a kind of “Trams &” special! – we feature some of those unique photo opportunities. Trevor Hall is the photographer.

Blackpool 31 along with Sunderland Corporation 53 at the Entrance. The bus is a single-deck Leyland Panther built in 1966.

Sunderland 16 waits outside the depot to see if its needed for service.

Another single-deck bus stars alongside Blackpool 31 in this view at Pockerley. The bus is a Crossley SD42/7 with Burlingham C33F body and was built in 1949.

A view of the depot area with Sunderland 16 lost in a sea of buses!

Sunderland Corporation bus 48 passes Blackpool 31 outside the tram depot.

Here we see Sunderland 16 outside the depot with the immaculately restored Northern General Routemaster 2099.

With the Sunderland Corporation bus now cleared out the way, Blackpool 31 is joined by Darlington Daimler pair 7 and 4. (All Photographs by Trevor Hall, 23rd October 2021)
