In Pictures: Blue route services terminating at Hillsborough

There has been further disruption for Stagecoach Supertram over the past few days with a building on Holme Lane deemed unsafe which had led to all services on the Blue route only able to run from Halfway to Hillsborough. This led to Hillsborough becoming a temporary terminus for Blue route services.

The building was declared to unsafe in the afternoon of Friday 20th August with all trams immediately stopped from running past meaning that the branch from Hillsborough to Malin Bridge was closed. With no trams able to run that relatively short distance all passengers wishing to travel to Malin Bridge were directed to First bus services from Hillsborough. The disruption continued throughout Saturday 21st August.

A cordon was placed around the unsafe building and this view shows why trams were unable to run to Malin Bridge.

108 is at the wrong platform to head to Halfway but that is exactly what it is about to do. This is Hillsborough where the tram has just terminated and will now return into the city and then onto Halfway.

108 then departs using the crossover at Hillsborough. (All Photographs by Stuart Cooke, 21st August 2021)
