Solent Sky Tram Event back for 2024

It was have been over 75 years since trams last ran in the Hampshire city of Southampton but they are far from forgotten and a dedicated group of volunteers have been keeping the history alive with a small collection of trams which once ran on the city’s tramway as well as one which plied its trade further afield. Having relocated to the Solent Sky Museum a few years ago they are now able to hold an annual event to show off their trams and this year that will be taking place on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June.

The Solent Sky Tram Event 2024 takes place (unsurprisingly) at the Solent Sky Museum in Southampton which as well as being home to the Southampton Tram Project’s three trams (11 and 38 as well as Lisbon 715) is also a museum dedicated to the golden age of aviation (including a Spitfire and a Flying Boat) and is the home of the Hampshire Police and Fire Museum.

In addition to the full sized trams during the event there will be at least a dozen model tramway and railway layouts ranging from N gauge to ¾ inch scale along with trade stands. This will include some returning favourite layouts from previous years as well as some new layouts too.

The event is on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June between 1000 and 1700 on both days. Admission to the museum is £12 for adults and £8 for children with a family ticket (2 adults and 3 children) costing £25.

Details of where the museum is are available on the Solent Sky website at https://www.solentsky.org/find-us-contact
