“Picture in Time” is again in Blackpool today.
This photo is taken from Meadow Avenue in the same position as last week’s image but this time the tram we see is heading away from Broadwater and going north to Fleetwood. Its just coming up to the 4mph speed restriction board for the Larkholme Lane/Avenue crossing – today that is light controlled.
The tram is Balloon 702 which has trolley pole, single destination indicators, 1970s fleet livery and in between deck adverts for CIS Insurance. The rear bench seat on the top deck is occupied and it looks like there are a number of people who want to go to Fleetwood for the day. Today 702 can be found at the Heaton Park Tramway in Manchester where it is stored out of service.
